RPGs are known for their captivating world and throughout the years several memorable Black RPG characters have being introduced as party members, companions and even protagonists.
These characters have left their mark on a particular group of gamers due to their complexity, character progression, and overall coolness.

10. Starfield - Amundsen Barrett
Barrett is the first friendly face players encounter in Constellation and this bearded explorer is a solid companion to have by your side. Barrett is not only a scientist and born adventurer, but he's also a philanthropist who likes helping others.
He is voiced by Barry Wiggins.
9. The Outer Worlds - Nyoka Ramnarim-Wentworth III
Nyoka is an alcoholic whose special ability includes drinking all of her hip flask in one gulp and blasting on enemies with a machine gun.
Despite her bottle addiction, Nyoka is a tender hearted mercenary and useful ally to have during a fight against the toughest monsters. She also offers bonuses to the player's lie, medical and sneak stats. Nyoka is voiced by Mara Junot.
8. Mass Effect 2 - Jacob Taylor
Jacob is a highly decorated space soldier who knows how to handle both biotics and weapons with ease. Despite giving off really strong 'I don't want to be here' vibes, Jacob is a down to earth guy with a great sense of justice. Adam Lazarre-White voices him.
7. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Nazir
Naturally as a fledging member of the Dark Brotherhood, Nazir is a cold blooded killer who issues out assassin contracts on people's heads. However despite his affiliation to a murderous cult, this Redguard warrior keeps it cool. Erik Todd Dellums voices him.
6. Balder's Gate 3 - Wyll
Wyll is a brave warrior who battles injustice and pursues demons wherever they may hide. He is known as The Blade of Frontiers throughout the trenches of Baldur's Gate, and has devoted his entire life to defending the city he loves.
5. Fallout 4 - Preston Garvey
Voiced by Jon Gentry in Fallout 4, Preston Garvey serves as an officer in the Commonwealth Minutemen. He is a patrolman who wants to restore peace and order to the world and bring glory back to an age old faction.
4. Dragon Age Inquisition - Vivienne
Originally appearing as a party member in Dragon Age: Inquisition, Vivienne is an exceptional mage, and master of the game. Despite joining the party, Bioware decided that you can't romance this gorgeous bald headed woman.
Vivienne is from an empire known for its ruthless political tactics. By the end of the game, she becomes the Divine (aka female pope), having apparently joined the Inquisition for personal gain. Overall she is a good character but bad person.
3. Fallout 3 - Three Dog
Playing oldies decades before his time, Three Dog is the host, DJ, and news anchor of the Galaxy News Radio station in the Capital Wasteland in the year 2277. He is voiced by Erik Todd Dellums.
Growing up with a strong belief in the rights to free speech, Three Dog listens to rock music and hates the government that he never knew. His wholehearted devotion is directed at "spreading the signal" of his radio station to everyone who will listen;
2. Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn - Nor Vanek
In the action role-playing game Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, the main character Nor Vanek is apart of a coalition tasked with battling the ancient Gods to prevent humanity from going extinct.
1. Final Fantasy VII Remake - Barret Wallace
In Final Fantasy VII Remake, Barret Wallace is one of the first protagonists to join the party. As the leader of the eco-terrorist group Avalanche, Barret is all about stopping Shinra Electric Power Company from harnessing mako, the planet's life source.
Barret is a loud mouthed yet passionate environmentalist who explosively fights for his cause. Despite his brazen attitude and violent demeanour, Barret has a kind heart and is divided between fighting for the cause and taking care of his step daughter Marlene. He is voiced by John Eric Bentley.
